ABOUT THE ARTIST

Mooneen Mourad from Ohio, California, Illinois and Florida creates in a variety of art forms including photography, ceramic, painting and jewelry, both functional and decorative. She is known for her sense of beauty, design, color, textures, and surprising originality and creativity. You can be sure that your choice is original and one of a kind. No two pieces are the same. Mooneen’s subject matter is women, Women’s faces, angels, florals and use of words and symbols of peace and serenity even when the colors are bold!

In jewelry and ceramic art the technical skill is important. When you view a ceramic piece, please know that Mooneen creates the entire piece even the base and “builds” the decorations as well as the design. For example the “slab” that she glazes and paints on is handmade by Mooneen. Then, if leaves hearts or other embellishments are added it is usually at this point (or attached upon completion) then fired in a kiln, then painted in underglazes and glazes and fired again. She loves the process although it is labor intensive. Mooneen also embellishes with beads and found materials when necessary.

Mooneen is the recipient for many awards and recognition, and is especially interested in how her artwork enhances and promotes joy and beauty to the viewer and often healing as she holds a masters degree in the mental health and chemical dependency fields. Mooneen has been a professional speaker and is passionate in enhancing the lives of others. Mooneen has been a docent at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and Baker Museum in Naples as well as holding resident artist membership in ceramic art and memberships in a number of professional art organizations. Mooneen donates her art to a number of causes. Mooneen's mission, vision and philosophical view are demonstrated through her artistic projects, and in her personal and professional life.
